Tim Atkin & James Suckling Review Vina Koyle Biodynamic Wines from Chile
VIna Koyle wines are Demeter Certified Biodynamic, grown on estate in Los Lingues, Colchagua Valley, Chile.
British wine critic and Master of Wine Tim Atkin, presented his annual report on Chilean wines during the 2019 ProWein fair. Atkin tested 1,283 wines from 218 vineyards. In his report, he pointed out that “the growth that Chilean wine has had has been very exciting” and that, despite traveling more than 4,000 kilometers in an intense trip of three weeks, he still feels that he has much to discover.
Journalist and American wine critic, James Suckling, spent 4 days in our country in the month of March, and in marathon sessions he evaluated almost a thousand wines. Koyle bottles were on their tasting tables with excellent results.

2015 AUMA (coming soon) – James Suckling 94 pts
Spicy blackberry and cassis aromas are dense yet subtle. A power-packed palate is pulpy and fruity but also tannic. Blackened berry flavors dominate this Bordeaux-style blend, while richer oak-aided flavors of chocolate and root beer settle at the top of a long finish. -Vina Koyle
2016 Koyle Cerro Basalto Cuartel G2 – Tim Atkin 94 pts
Basalto G2 shows a bright violet color. It has pure and clean aromas, with a touch of complexity from the spiciness and graphite notes. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced. The tannins are silky and velvety, with a long, juicy and mineral finish that is influenced by the basaltic rock. -Vina Koyle

This has a very healthy tannin structure that keeps the wine moving and gives it a long, clean finish. A blend of 37% mourvèdre, 35% grenache, 23% carignan and 5% syrah. -James Suckling (2016)

Stand back for this serious cabernet that has a great tannin structure and some real depth. Still a little shy on the savory and earthy nose, but this already has a distinctive personality. Drink or hold.-James Suckling (2016)
