- Vineyard:
The Gran Reserva range come from the first and the second terrace in Los Lingues Estate. The soil presents a matrix of rocks in different states of decomposition, mainly as fragmented alterites, which give the balance sought between vigour, productivity and quality. Mineral notes are expressed because of the balanced extraction through the deep roots.
- Vinification:
The grapes come from carefully pruned vines, with stringent canopy management. At optimum ripeness, the grapes are hand-picked in selected lots, carefully sorted and sent to stainless steel tanks where they go to cold maceration over five days (50ºF), for extraction of aromas, flavor and color. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures (75-79°C). Finally, warm maceration takes place to extract the most rounded and silky tannins. One soft cartridge filtration takes place before bottling.

Clay texture with volcanic rocks and colluvial stones.

I like the varietal character of the 2019 Gran Reserva Carmenere, which is pungent and intense, very aromatic and open. It's a little riper than the 2018 but showing very well. The organically farmed grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in oak barrels for 14 months. It's medium-bodied and reveals round and polished tannins. 91 Points
Robert Parker - The Wine AdvocateThe 2019 Carmenere Gran Reserva also includes portions of Tempranillo (9%) and Petit Verdot (6%) from Los Lingues, Colchagua, and spent 14 months in French barrels. Purple in color. Intense and juicy, it is terse and expansive on the palate, all punchy flavor and volume. A serious wine. 90 Points
Joaquín Hidalgo, VinousAromatic and spicy with notes of pepper, paprika, red chili flakes, and vanilla, quite restrained but red plums and cherries show through. The palate exudes bright red berries, cranberry, red plum, blueberries, and notes of bell pepper, jalapeno, and a dusting of cocoa round out the palate.
NM - Enjoy with:
Spicy Mexican cuisine, spiced meats, and hot Italian sausage, Spanish Chorizo, grilled spicy vegetables and aromatic Tandoori chicken or lamb dishes served with spiced and dried fruit studded couscous.
