Heritage
It all began in 1938, when five men founded Cantina Puianello in the beautiful small and harmonious village of the same name. New families began joining their pioneering project and adopting their spirit, developing inspiring values and traditions that continue to be shared by future generations. One of the most important tenets of the project is that only the grapes provided by the member family growers can be utilized in the wine production, an uncommon example to valorize the grapes of the region that goes from Scandiano up to Canossa. Nature is at the very heart of Cantina Puianello, paired with modern technology to help us ensure the quality and authentic style of our wines.
Terroir, care and tradition are reflected in our Lambrusco, especially in the little bubbles that radiate the pleasure, the feast, the positive feelings and aggregation of the values of our land.
Vineyards
“To cultivate the best hills of the world.” With this thought the first pages of our history were written. As the flat ground is influenced by humid climate and frequent fogs, our sloped grounds offer a well-ventilated and sheltered place, with a good temperature variance, for the highly anticipated Lambrusco, Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Spergola and Marzemino. Our vineyards are grown on calcareous and clayey soil, with a vertical trellis system, with containment of vegetation, and precise Guyot pruning. In addition, our family of wine growers come from the stunning hilly area from Scandiano that rises to Canossa, up to the lands that once belonged to Matilde di Canossa, the “Queen of Italy” across the eleventh and the twelfth centuries, in the Medieval Age.
