Vineyards & Grapes
All the vines of Bodegas Matarromera are situated in the best terroir around Olivares, Valbuena de Duero and Valdefinjas. Toro, Spain.
In keeping with the wine-making tradition of his ancestors, Carlos Moro decided, in 1988 to cultivate the vines, and build a new cellar, where top quality Crianzas, Reservas and Gran Reservas are now being developed.
GRANZA Brand
GRANZA is named after a story linked to the land—the trace of the heads of wheat left by the wind on the field. That field eventually hosts the roots of the vines located in the heart of the D. O.s Ribera de Duero, Rueda and Toro.
The methods and techniques of producing these wines of exceptional quality have been handed down from generation to generation. The secret lies in farming vineyards with special characteristics that make them outstanding because of their altitude, location, orientation and the use of organic farming methods. The region benefits from significant “diurnal temperature fluctuation” where nights can be as much as 40 degrees F cooler than daytime temperatures. This helps to shut down the ripening process and preserve essential acidity.
GRANZA results from the same care and respect for the land and the environment with which our ancestors farmed the land. These origins, in addition to the continuous search for the highest quality grapes and superior elaboration process, are the keys to producing these elegant and unique wines.
GRANZA Organic Wines
GRANZA wines are elaborated from three of Spain’s most famous indigenous grapes: Tempranillo, from D.O. Ribera del Duero, Verdejo from D.O. Rueda and Tinta de Toro from D.O. Toro. The wines are vegan-friendly, using no animal byproducts in production. The wines are also Non-GMO Project Verified.
