We are pleased to announce a new brand in the portfolio from Spain-GRANZA, created in partnership with the famed Bodegas Matarromera.
GRANZA is the name of a story linked to a land, the trace of the heads of wheat left by the wind on the field, a field that eventually hosts the roots of our vines located in the heart of the D. O. Rueda and D. O. Ribera de Duero. These are the first organically grown wines from these regions available nationwide.
The origin of these wines of exceptional quality has been handed down from generation to generation, farming vineyards with special characteristics that make them be the best because of its altitude, location, orientation and the special care in organic farming.
GRANZA keeps the same care and respect for the land and the environment with which our ancestors farmed the land. These origins, besides of a continuous search for the highest quality of the grapes and the elaboration process, are the key to produce these elegant and uniques wines.
GRANZA VERDEJO
Wine made from organically produced Verdejo grapes hailing from the sandy land of the Rueda Designation of Origin. White wine of straw-yellow color with greenish reflections, clean and bright. The wine shows good intensity, displaying an excellent fusion of tropical pineapple and mango aromas with the typical aniseed and herbaceous tones of the Verdejo variety.
Perfect balance between acidity and the rest of the taste sensations, with good structure and freshness at the same time. Elegant and delicate bitterness at the finish, which accentuates its long and intense aftertaste.
GRANZA TEMPRANILLO
Made from 100% organically grown Tempranillo. A great wine made from the only Matarromera vineyard located on the left-south bank of the Duero River (Quintanilla de Arriba) at 2427 feet in altitude.
Only the highest-quality grapes and respect for the varietal and terroir characteristics take part in the production of this wine that carries the D. O. Ribera de Duero.
The wine undergoes its alcoholic and maleolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. It is then aged for 6 months in American oak barrels sourced from the forests of Missouri. This wine has a high layer of bright cherry red color and violet tones. On the nose we find aromas of cherries, blackberries, currants and hints of licorice, joining perfectly with roasted and vanilla wood aromas. A very nice combination of a soft start of sweet tannins, then while on the palate increasing the sense of volume leaving a lingering and creamy finish.
