The entire Natural Merchants’ team now has WSET certification!
As part of our company’s dedication to deepen our overall knowledge of the wine industry, we recently provided the opportunity for our entire staff-from office administration to ownership and everyone in between-to take the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) 2 educational course and test. We are thrilled to say that 100% of our Team have achieved the WSET 2 certification. This is an especially magnificent feat as only two of us have English as the native tongue. The course was taught in English and the test of course was in English as well. Everyone worked diligently in advance to understand the material in depth, and all passed with flying colors.
What is WSET Certification?

WSET Level 2 reviews the wine making process, but then focuses on the major wine regions of the world. By exploring topography, geography and climates, students gain a solid understanding why grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon make very different wines if grown in France, Chile or California. The course covers all styles of winemaking including Port, Sherry & Champagne as well as basic production methods for making spirits. The course also looks more in depth at our core areas of expertise including Organic wine, Biodynamic wine, Vegan wines, and more, taught by the world’s most authoritative certifier.
We felt a deep need for the entire office to have a better understanding of the entire winemaking process, from vine to glass, to assist in our daily operations and marketing efforts. We are proud of our deep commitment to providing accurate marketing and sales tools for all of our wines, and as such we need to be familiar with wines from many countries, dozens of regions and countless vineyard plot-specific facts, altitudes and nuances that make each wine unique and extraordinary.
