- Vineyard:
The vineyard is located in the East of Austria, Southeast from Vienna. The area is called Burgenland and is a big low-land plain, containing also a huge National Park closeby. The climate is continental with warm and dry Summers and cold Winters. Rainfall can be quite little. The average is 450mm per year.
- Vinification:
Classical red production. Short maceration to avoid grippy tannins. Very reductive using daily pump-overs for optimal color extraction.
- Terroir:
Sandy-clay soil, textured with gravels from former million year old fluvial movements.
- Training system:
Normal classical trellising system, allowing optimal sun and air permeation.
- Tasting Notes:
-
The vivid purity of ripe, red cherry immediately strikes on the nose. The palate is no less vivacious, with juicy, ripe but wonderfully tart cherry notes. A spicy, funky edge appears toward the finish, along with subtle tannins. Chill this for maximum effect and liveliness. - ANNE KREBIEHL MW
Wine EnthusiastThe wine is a translucent ruby with cherry red tones and a cranberry strawberry rhubarb tart nose. On the palate, find ripe raspberry and rhubarb compote sprinkled with spices and garnished with a peppermint leaf. It has a silky mouthfeel with a gentle structure, medium body, prominent acidity, gentle tannins, and a dry finish.
NM - Enjoy with:
Charcuterie, barbeque, fried chicken, and picnic salads. This is the perfect summer lunch wine.
