(April 25) May 5 is Cinco de Mayo, and the perfect opportunity for unique organic wine pairings with your favorite Mexican foods. Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the Mexican army’s victory over French forces during the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Though greatly outnumbered, the Mexican army successfully defeated the much better equipped French army during the battle. Today, Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican heritage and culture and includes festivals, parties, and parades with traditional Mexican food and music.

Serious Eats.com asked sommeliers to pair wine with their favorite Mexican dishes. Josiah Baldivino, of picks “fruit forward Gruner Veltliner or Sauvignon Blanc. You basically want to find something that has some sort of ripe green fruit notes but also has some kind of acid.” Our Biodynamic wine, Biokult Grüner Veltliner or the French organic wine Les Hauts de Lagarde Bordeux Blanc with its blend of Sauvignon and Semillon fit the bill perfectly!
