Les Hauts Red

LES HAUTS DE LAGARDE - ROUGE

Winemaker: Lionel Raymond, Saint Laurent du Bois, France

Appellation: AOC Bordeaux

Varietal(s): 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon,
10% Cabernet Franc

Vineyard : Situated in Saint Laurent du Bois

Production Area:   50 hectares,

Yield per Vine & Hectare: 45 hl/ha

Production Area: A mild climate (due to the Atlantic Ocean). Lots of sunshine, and regular rain, the hillside situation and the clay-limestone soil, gravels offer the best conditions for the growth of the vines and the grapes.

Tasting notes: Ruby black color. Rich, fruity, earthy savory aromas of black currant, pencil shaving, cigar box, and roasted cashews. Dry medium-to-full body and a smooth, complex, medium-long black currant, cherry toffee, toasted nuts, and coffee finish with medium, chewy tannins and moderate oak. Layers of coffee, cigar box and rich earth balance with classic Bordeaux pencil shavings and currants, all wrapped up with lightly chewy and well-integrated tannins. – tastings.com

Training system: The vineyard is held up by Guyot double (Bordeaux style) to obtain the best maturity and also to avoid phytosanitary disease. The vine is held up by wires.

Analytical Data: 13%

Color: Beautiful crimson robe with intense purple reflections.

Aroma: This wine reveals great aromas of fresh fruits (blackcurrant, blackberries) and spices.

Tasting Notes: The fruitiness, roundness and tannic mouth give it a rare elegance. Ideal with pork roasts and your favorite cheese.  A harmonious wine!

"Rich cherry color, and a soft but well-defined nose, touch of oak, a haze of smoke. The smoky character carries through to the palate, there are here more damson fruits. This is gentle and pretty". – Decanter Magazine
